Friday, 05 December 2014 - Matt Kelley

Over the past few days of calling drive the two teams have been meeting together for daily devo time with our program director, Paul. The topic has been prayer, and it has already been quite convicting. Recently we have been discussing the basis on which we pray and how, according to Tim Keller, there are basically two types of relationships one can have with God through prayer: a business relationship and a family relationship. A person...

His Work Continues.
Wednesday, 03 December 2014 - Kirsten

The past 5 weeks of Fall Tour have really flown by. It’s officially our first full day back in Willmar! Both teams have reunited and are preparing for the next couple weeks of our winter support raising campaign. Tour has ended for this year and though it was absolutely amazing, I must say that it was equally exhausting for me. I’ve been looking forward to the rejuvenation of our upcoming Christmas break as well spending time with my friends...

Be sure to follow along as our team travels through the west coast for the coming winter tour. (More like summer tour. heheh).

Reflections from Fall Tour
Sunday, 30 November 2014 - CTI 14:22

Hey everyone!I can't believe it but Fall Tour is almost done! We have one more concert in Winnipeg and will be heading back to Willmar on Monday for more ministry training. One of my favorite things of nearing the end of tour is being able to look back on all the places we have been to! We started tour off in Minnesota and our last concert is this Sunday (this morning) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We spent our tour in only a few...

Giving Thanks
Wednesday, 26 November 2014 - Keilah Quimby

I was reminded tonight of how much we, as people (and Christians) living in a country such as ours, have been blessed with. It’s more than likely that you woke up in a comfortable bed. We have food to eat and roofs over our heads. We have our friends and our families close by our sides, loving us unconditionally. We have an abundance of opportunities for employment and learning. Each and every one of these things are, more than likely, things...

Tuesday, 25 November 2014 - Joey Nutting

Lately, I’ve been evaluating my personal prayer life. I feel convicted when I hear stories about Elijah, who prayed against rain, causing a three-year drought, and who prayed for a holy barbecue of a sacrifice in front of many false prophets and got just that. Elijah was an ordinary human, but by the power of prayer, God used him to do extraordinary things.   This last Sunday, we played at East Valley FourSquare Church in East...

Be Still
Monday, 24 November 2014 - Wesley Lin

To make the most out of our lengthy travel times, our team occasionally listens to sermons or podcasts in the van while waiting to get to our next destination. Recently we listened to a message by Matt Chandler on prayer, during which one particular quote stood out to me.   “When the illusion of control disappears, we become men and women of prayer.”   The illusion of control. People are able to grow closer to God once they let go...

Hey everyone! So over the course of tour we've had the opportunity play at the Seattle Union Gospel Mission, juvenile detention centers, and as of Thursday, a special offenders unit in a prison. And as you would guess, these venues are pretty different from the garden variety churches or Christian high schools we played at during our training tour. First of all: The thought of these venues made me violently uncomfortable. I had no idea what...

Navigating the Call
Saturday, 22 November 2014 - Holly Hassman

Something I’ve been struggling with recently as I’m thinking about the future and wondering what to do after my year with CTI is: “how and when will I discover my calling in life?” In a recent conversation on the topic, one of our hosts, Ben, articulated four major factors that affect our decisions in determining a career path or calling: experience, opportunities, abilities, and passions. Most people try to determine how these four...

Hi everyone! So far, fall tour has been amazing! We have visited some great places like Toronto and Columbus, and have even stopped by my hometown! One of my favorite stops so far has been ICOM, which stands for the International Conference on Missions. CTI had a booth in the exhibit hall and a separate room to hold auditions for future summer team and even fulltime team members. We were blessed by the dozens of auditions!   During the...

Hey all! The team is currently enjoying a morning off in West Bend, Pennsylvania. We’re coming off of an awesome weekend of recruiting at The International Conference on Missions (ICOM) in Cleveland, OH!   By God’s provision, we were able to audition over 60 musicians at the conference. It was overwhelming to see how many people were willing to be put on the spot and audition; many were willing to step out of their comfort zone because...

Photo: at Multnomah Falls in Bridal Veil, OR So what’s after CTI? A question we’ve been asked many times on the road. A question we’ve asked ourselves and each other.   Most often I give my “fake” answer: “well, I studied biology and education and I graduated with a teaching license so I could go back and be a science teacher.”   There are many things I’d love to do after CTI but my real answer for the time being is...
